Artist's Statement

Building the project off of artwork I created in 2023, I wanted to expand on the text I used to describe ADHD and the common experiences people with ADHD have by making the artwork interactive and giving context to each sticky note. Using multiple mediums to describe the sticky note statements gave me the opportunity to paint a picture of ADHD that is qualitative, quantitative, anecdotal, and artistic. The lack of linear structure also serves to describe the scattered and overstimulating contents of many (maybe most) ADHD brains.

While I (a diagnosed ADHD brain) chose the sticky note labels, I consulted with other ADHD brains for label accuracy. When creating descriptions, I combined some of my own artwork, research, or experiences with different forms of media created by other ADHD brains to give a broader idea of the varied experiences we each have. My goal was to make a fun, relatable, maybe slightly painful visual of the experience of having ADHD and the cluttered, often disoragnized brain that comes with it.
